Climate change has become an important risk variable affecting business operations. Realizing green and low-carbon development is not only the responsibility of the company, but also our long-term strategy. Today, we will share SAIC’s new energy development strategy with this theme.

 

First, the “dual carbon” goal promotes the acceleration of industry reforms. As an important provider of transportation products and an important part of my country’s industrial and energy activities, the automobile industry not only assumes the responsibility of providing low-carbon travel products, but also leads the low-carbon development of my country’s industrial and energy structure and promotes the entire industrial chain. Responsibility for green manufacturing. The proposal of the “dual carbon” goal has brought new opportunities and challenges.

 

From the perspective of opportunities, on the one hand, during the implementation of the “dual carbon” goal, the state has promulgated a series of carbon emission reduction measures to accelerate the promotion of the application of low-carbon and technical materials, and provide a powerful force for my country’s new energy vehicle production and sales scale to continue to lead the world. Policy support. On the other hand, in the context of the imposition of carbon tariffs by some European and American countries, emission reduction and carbon reduction will bring new variables to the auto industry, which will provide important opportunities for auto companies to reshape their competitive advantages.

 

From the perspective of challenges, Macau, China raised carbon disclosure requirements as early as 2003, and continuously upgraded its low-carbon strategy, providing an important statistical basis. While mainland China is developing rapidly on a large scale, but from the perspective of carbon emission reduction, the planning goal has just started. It faces three challenges: First, the data statistics foundation is weak, the digital range and standards of carbon emissions must be clarified, and the double-point policy must be restricted. Consolidation provides an effective statistical basis; second, carbon reduction is a system project for the whole people, with the advent of electric smart cars, the industry is changing, and the automobile ecology is also changing, and it is more difficult to achieve carbon management and emission monitoring; third, cost to value Conversion, not only companies need to face greater cost pressure, users will also experience balance between new costs and value experience. Although policy is an important driving force in the initial stage, the choice of market users is the long-term decisive force in achieving the vision of carbon neutrality.

 

SAIC Group is actively practicing green and low-carbon development and increasing the proportion of new energy vehicle sales, which is of great significance to the society as a whole to reduce carbon emissions. On the product side, during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the growth rate of SAIC’s new energy vehicles reached 90%. In the first half of this year, SAIC sold more than 280,000 new energy vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 400%. The proportion of SAIC vehicles sold rose from 5.7% last year to The current 13%, of which the proportion of self-owned brand new energy vehicles in SAIC brand sales has reached 24%, and has continued to break through in the European market. In the first half of the year, our new energy vehicles have sold more than 13,000 in Europe. We also launched a high-end smart electric car brand-Zhiji Auto, which can effectively reduce energy consumption, and the battery energy density is increased to 240 Wh/kg, which effectively increases the cruising range while reducing weight. In addition, we have joined hands with Ordos to help build the “North Xinjiang Green Hydrogen City”, which can reduce nearly 500,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

 

On the production side, accelerate the promotion of low-carbon production mode. In terms of low-carbon supply chain, some parts of SAIC have taken the lead in putting forward low-carbon requirements, requiring disclosure of carbon emission data, and formulating mid- and long-term carbon reduction plans. During the manufacturing process, we strengthened the management of the total energy of key supply units and the energy consumption per unit of products. In the first half of this year, SAIC’s key supply companies promoted more than 70 energy-saving projects, and the annual energy saving is expected to reach 24,000 tons of standard coal; The proportion of green electricity used for photovoltaic power generation using the roof of the factory reached 110 million kWh last year, accounting for about 5% of the total electricity consumption; actively purchasing hydropower and increasing the use of clean energy, purchasing 140 million kWh of hydropower last year.

 

At the end of use, speed up the exploration of low-carbon travel modes and resource recycling. In terms of the ecological construction of low-carbon travel, SAIC has been carrying out shared travel since 2016. In the past five years, it has reduced carbon emissions by 130,000 tons in accordance with the emissions of traditional fuel vehicles under the same mileage. In terms of recycling, SAIC actively responded to the call of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology and other ministries and commissions to implement green supply chain management, and plans to conduct pilot projects, and gradually promote it within the group after forming experience. SAIC will put into production a new platform battery at the end of the year. The biggest feature of this battery system is that it can not only realize fast charging, but also ensure recycling. The life cycle of the battery used on the private side is about 200,000 kilometers, causing a great waste of resources. Based on the management of the battery life cycle, the barrier between private users and operating vehicles is broken. By renting a battery, a battery can serve up to about 600,000 kilometers. , Can effectively reduce user costs and carbon emissions throughout the life cycle.

 

The third is the development strategy of SAIC’s new energy vehicles under the “dual carbon” goal. Strive to achieve a carbon peak by 2025, and plan to sell more than 2.7 million new energy vehicles in 2025, with new energy vehicle sales accounting for more than 32%, and self-owned brand sales exceeding 4.8 million, of which new energy vehicles account for more than 38%.

 

We will unswervingly promote carbon neutrality, greatly increase the proportion of pure electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in the production and sales of products, continue to improve power consumption indicators, and accelerate the extension to the production and use ends, and comprehensively promote the “dual carbon” The landing of the goal.
